Our Story

The Parent and Child Enrichment (P.A.C.E.) Program, is a nonprofit inspired by the personal experience of the founder, Georgia Williams, and is appropriately named after her youngest son Pace. Georgia’s pregnancy with Pace was her most challenging due to debilitating migraines and bouts of depression that resulted in frequent office visits and hospital admissions. She was prescribed and administered numerous Schedule II, III, IV and V drugs.

Following Pace’s birth, she quickly realized he had neurological, medical and behavioral challenges that would prevent him from meeting developmental milestones and make the first years of his life very difficult. He would require several medical procedures and hospital admissions and was followed by developmental, genetic, gastroenterology, neurology, and ENT providers, as well as, physical, occupational, and speech therapists.

After much research, it was determined that Pace’s challenges were most likely related to the medicines consumed during his gestation period. This was disheartening to Pace’s parents, as no provider or nurse ever discussed the risks and long-term effects associated with taking such drugs. They felt betrayed and helpless.

Several years later, Georgia was diagnosed with Stage One Breast Cancer and did not respond well to chemotherapy treatments. She researched alternative treatment options adopted a more holistic approach to living. This launched a health journey that would result in her desperate attempt to detox her life and diet, and that of her family and friends.

While on this new journey to healthier living, she had an epiphany and wondered what sharing the information she was learning with maternal women could do. After much prayer and countless conversations with trusted counsel, the PACE Program was born. Now, she along with dedicated board members and volunteers, are committed to ensuring maternal women across the state are educated on the risks and long-term effects associated with taking such drugs. Quite simply, our vision of this program to birth healthy babies!
